National GORDIEday is an alcohol and hazing awareness event held across the United States and abroad each fall. The Gordie Foundation coordinates efforts with colleges, universities and high schools, and has posted the National Gordie Day 2010 Planning Guide (click to download PDF) for your reference.

Statistics show that 82% of hazing deaths involve alcohol.  Sadly, Gordie Bailey’s death was just one of these tragedies. We also know that 5,000 students under the age of 21 will die this year alone in alcohol-related incidents.

Clearly, the need exists for frank, honest discussions about hazing and alcohol misuse. The Gordie Foundation is committed to facilitating these conversations, and we believe National GORDIEday is key to getting the ball rolling toward positive progress and away from destructive hazing activities and high-risk drinking.

National GORDIEday 2010

The Third-Annual National GORDIEday will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 to coincide with National Hazing Prevention Week. We believe the anti-hazing efforts taking place nationwide will help provide a framework to discuss responsible alcohol use.
