Over the past years, it has become very clear; we cannot solve the nation’s alcohol and hazing issues by ourselves.  Knowing this, we have established a key partnership to achieve our mission.  During the summer of 2010, The Gordie Foundation will join forces and merge with The University of Virginia and form The Gordie Center for Alcohol and Substance Education.

Center for Alcohol and Substance Education at the University of Virginia

As a unit of the University of Virginia’s Office of the Dean of Students, CASE supports the mission of the University by fostering community to promote student learning, growth, and citizenship. CASE supports peer education and provides presentations and consultation in order to increase knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues, and decrease the negative consequences associated with high-risk drinking and illegal drug use among U.Va. students.

Programs include:

Choices Alcohol and Drug Education Programs - These online alcohol and drug education programs hosted by 3rd Millennium Classrooms and coordinated by CASE, focus on prevention and reducing risk for alcohol and drug related health and impairment problems, not just for the college years, but for a lifetime.

First Aid for Intoxicated People - Education on helping out a friend who has had too much to drink.

Self Assessment Tools - AlcoholScreening.org - If you consume alcoholic beverages, it's important to know whether your drinking patterns are safe, risky or harmful. This screening will take only a few minutes, and will generate personalized results. DrugScreening.org - This self-screening tool is designed to help adults assess their own drug use, and find out their likely risk level for experiencing negative consequences.
